Magical Monday- Book Review

March 7, 2011

Peter Reynolds is brilliant.

Please look at his website and buy his books. He is a worldwide inspiration and his books bring light to new ideas and beautiful plots. As you know I am currently studying to become an early childhood educator (Almost done) and during language and literature I was given an assignment to look up a childrens book author. I was given Peter Reynolds. Ever since that assignment I have been using this name as if he is a close friend. I can not help but recommend all of his books because of his overall messages. through his work I he recognizes that every child is unique and has their own path and sometimes it goes against the grain of the school systems or society but every child is special and gifted.  Annnnnnnnnnyway that is just my opinion but I strongly urge you to go to his website and ready everything he is pretty awesome and is involved with some cool projects all advocating for children’s creativity….

And now what you have all been waiting for….

“A creative spirit learns that thinking “ish-ly” is far more wonderful than “getting it right” in this gentle new fable from the creator of the award-winning picture book THE DOT. Ramon loved to draw. Anytime. Anything. Anywhere.Drawing is what Ramon does. It¹s what makes him happy. But in one split second, all that changes. A single reckless remark by Ramon’s older brother, Leon, turns Ramon’s carefree sketches into joyless struggles. Luckily for Ramon, though, his little sister, Marisol, sees the world differently. She opens his eyes to something a lot more valuable than getting things just “right.” Combining the spareness of fable with the potency of parable, Peter Reynolds shines a bright beam of light on the need to kindle and tend our creative flames with care.”- Candlewick publisher
